This Privacy and Data Collection Policy outlines our practices for handling personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and other applicable laws.
This Policy exists in conjunction with other Pride by Side Policies including our Heightened Safety Measures Policy.

From time to time, Pride by Side may also collect information about organisations, initiatives, projects, or programs that engage with our work. This information may be provided by individuals representing those organisations or initiatives.
Participation in surveys, studies, or sector research conducted by Pride by Side is voluntary. Where surveys or research activities collect personal information, participants will be informed of how that information will be used.

We do not sell or rent personal information to third parties.We may disclose personal information to service providers that perform services on our behalf, such as processing donations, managing events, sending email newsletters, hosting digital platforms, or supporting survey and research activities.
Where we engage service providers, we take reasonable steps to ensure they are bound by confidentiality obligations and that personal information is only used for the purposes for which we engaged them.In some cases, survey or research activities may involve collaboration with research partners, analysts, or sector organisations.
In these cases, data shared will generally be aggregated or de-identified unless participants have explicitly consented otherwise.

Where we collect sensitive information such as gender identity or sexuality, we will only do so with the individual’s consent and where it is reasonably necessary for our programs or research.

Where Pride by Side conducts research or sector studies, certain information may be retained for longer periods to support longitudinal analysis, sector insights, or future research projects. Where possible, identifying information will be removed or separated from research datasets.
When personal information is no longer required, we will take reasonable steps to securely destroy or de-identify it.
